Cook was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

‘Hairy Bikers’ star Si King has revealed how he was almost killed by a brain aneurysm.

King, who with Dave Myers has become famed for their globe-trotting food shows, told how a prolonged headache saw him rushed away for life-saving treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

“I just started getting a severe headache. Over a four-day period it got worse and worse and worse. I thought, ‘Oh my god I am in trouble here’.

“So I went and had a procedure. It was a life-or-death thing. It was critical when I went into hospital but now it’s not.

“It’s good they have fixed it. There have been no lasting effects – none that you’d notice other than I am slightly madder than I was before. No deficit as they say.

“They were the most incredible staff and it is an incredible hospital. Hats off to the NHS.”

Prior to the aneurysm, King had lost three stone in a joint diet with TV partner Myers, and has resolved to continue keeping healthy.

“I walk at least two miles a day and cycle when I can because with brain injuries it can be difficult. Your stamina levels drop for one reason or another,” he says.
“I’m not back working yet. I want to keep myself right. The last thing I want to do is fall over on a shoot. I want to make sure I am 100% fit. And I’m getting there.” [Daily Mirror]
