Diezani Challenges HoR
Mrs. Diezani
Alison Madueke, embattled Minister of Petroleum Resources, has yet
again stated that she would not honour the invitation by the House of
Representatives to probe her standing firmly on her ground of getting
approval from the president himself.
Andrew Yakubu,
group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
NNPC, has confirmed in a correspondent to the committee, that
Alison-Madueke would not be present at the probe describing appearing before the committee as being ‘prejudicial’ since the same cases were already in court.
He further said that the corporation would not provide any documents to the committee regarding the probe.
But the committee members have decided it would go ahead with the probe with or without her presence on June 26.
It would be recalled that the House Committee
on Public Accounts is probing the Minister’s alleged expenditure on
chartered private jets which NNPC and its subsidiary, Pipelines and
Product Marketing Company, PPMC estimated at N10 billion. Among other
allegations, Mrs. Allison-Madueke is also being accused of using the
jets for personal trips, even though they were officially chartered and
paid for with tax payers’ money.
